Since the age of 21, Shane has served on various boards and committees and has been the founder of 28 companies and businesses including:
Member of the Board and investor in a start-up coal-mining company, York Resources (1998-2005). This was a successful resource venture in the Hunter Valley at Wallsend, which exported over 1.1 million tonnes of coking coal a year and returned an IRR of 36% to private equity investors over a six-year period.
Founder and Board Member of the $70 Million Epping Rail Link Property Trust in Sydney (2000-14). This idea and concept, conceived from scratch at circa 1999, looked at setting up a Sydney-based fund that would buy land around transport projects to augment their value. The company raised $36 million in capital and an equal amount in debt, to become a main player in the land ownership of parcels around the then new Epping-to-Chatswood Rail Link. These were re-zoned and sold after the opening of the new rail line.
Founder and Managing Director of EG Property Group, a leading re-zoning property company with over $12 billion of successful re-zonings in the past 19 years (1999-present). Re-zonings have included some of Sydney and NSW’s largest land use changes in both size and value. Over 200 re-zonings and 1,000 D.A.s have been completed over the past 16 years, with a 98% success rate.
Co-founder and Director of EG Funds Management. Founded in the early 2000s, this partnership now has over $2.7 billion in assets under management. It has built itself and remains one of NSW’s most successful unlisted property trust companies and operates in the value-add and core-plus property spaces.
Director of Opportunity Investments at Granada Developments with over $250 million worth of built developments, including the award winning $65 million Pindari, which was awarded the Sulman Prize by the RAIA for Best Residential Medium Density Architecture in Australia.
Founder and Director of Duende, a highly successful subdivision company specialising in land subdivisions in the Southern Highlands of NSW.
Founder of publishing house Merlin Group International with over 100,000 books published and sold worldwide including 40 titles published in Australia.
